Let’s Talk about our Vision
…Vision for our Future…
Are you satisfied with your life right now?
I’ve written about “Vision” in a few of my articles; last week mentioned it when I was talking about “too many things to do”.
So many people right now, not only have a lot to do, I think most people are distracted to the right and to the left, and every other direction you can find. There are so many things to distract us.
We want to make our lives better; we want to be more productive; we want to spend more time with family; we want to just have some time to relax; and we want to have the finances to buy the things we want, take vacations, take time off from work, and just enjoy our lives, in general.
Do you wonder if you can ever do all that at one time?
If that could be done, what would you say the key to that is?
*******************************************************
I know, we don’t want to write everything down… make lists… put ourselves on a strict schedule…
It seems life used to be simpler…
What if we were “focused”…
What if we weren’t quite so distracted…
Had you thought about our people who lived here ahead of us… how they enjoyed their lives, and at the same time seemingly got things done?
How do you suppose they lived, day-in and day-out…
So I’ll ask again this week…
What do you REALLY want your life to look like?
I think a lot of our forefathers knew what they wanted their lives to look like.
I think sometimes we’re so distracted and overwhelmed with our lives we don’t take a minute to think seriously about how we want to live, or about how we’re actually living.
(Again, I do recommend—because we are so distracted, that you use a calendar, to keep track of things you actually want to do.)
If you want to go on a trip, you’re going to have to have a destination. And a destination isn’t all you need. You need a plan—what route you plan to take, what stops along the way, what fuel, and when and where to be able to get your fuel.
You truly do need to come up with the tasks that will get you down that road. You need to think about the bridges that may be out, or construction on the highway, or areas of high-traffic, and the time of when you’d be passing through that way.
It would be helpful if you knew about the times you’d be wanting to eat, and where on your road were the places you might want to eat; and where you’d want to stop for the night, and where on your road would have places you’d prefer to stay the night.
You can always play those things “on-the-go”, as you go along. And you can certainly go through your whole life like that…no plan.
But a ship would not reach its destination harbor without exact coordinates, and measuring against those markers, where there might need to be an adjustment in the route.
I sure wouldn’t want to board a plane without knowing for sure that all the instruments were working, and that the exact flight plan was in place so that it all worked together to get me to where I wanted to go.
So…Yes. You can go through life without a Plan. But you may not get to where you want to go. And you may be disappointed with your life—even blame others, or blame “life” in general.
But whose responsibility would that be? Hard times? Hard luck? The world being “against you”? “Someone else’s fault”?
We—and our life’s destination—both are our responsibility.
You do need to know what you’re passionate about!
You do need to think about what your dreams are… How else can you reach them?
Think about those things. If you can’t come to answers you want, give yourself some time. Days, if you need to.
Your “Vision” is the Switch you flip to turn the Power on.
Your Vision is not “soft & fluffy”. It’s where the Power is.
…the Power to cut through the fog…
…above the turbulence…
…through the storms…
The Power to change “Impossible” to “Possible”!
Then it can change to Probable, by asking yourself…
“How might I do that?”
Just that simple question (after you believe it’s possible) could change everything.
Then…You will see things shift.
Then…You will see things actually change.
Two of your mightiest enemies along this road will be indecision and uncertainty.
Your Vision can overcome those. Yes…it absolutely can.
This is your Starting Point…You must Own Your Vision. It must be in your Heart.
*********************************************************
Where would you want to live?
How would you want to live?
What would you want going on in your life?
How would you want to feel?
What do you like to do?
What people would there be in that life you want?
*********************************************************
In order to be truly happy in your life, the things you want in life, and the direction you go in your life, need to align with what you actually plan. And to get there, that PLAN will have to be put in place.
With reaching any goal, you must sacrifice something. You might need to spend some time thinking this through, too. That sacrifice may be changing some habits, or dedicating yourself to discipline for yourself. Whatever it is…
Change doesn’t feel good at first. Sometimes its very painful, and downright hard. The good news is, it doesn’t stay hard as you push through, one day, then another, then the next.
*********************************************************
So, Regardless, it’s “decision time”— how badly do you want to change…
How badly do you want your life to be better?
How badly do you want your life to be GREAT?
(You are Already Great. It’s within you to be Great. It just may need some help making itself known—to YOU)
Two things will help your Greatness to Show itself.
1. The Continuous, Constant “Hurry” must go, along with the constant interruptions (and notifications)
2. Have a Clear Vision…with a Clear Intention… and a Clear Plan.
*********************************************************
If you stumble, getting through your To Do List, remember these things you just came up with.
And Again this week, I’ll ask again,
Do you want to be known as living a “Life of Hurry”? Or
Known as living a life of Peace, in your Heart and Mind, and your Life.
*********************************************************
At this point, it’s time to decide…
Is this Vision you have…what you truly want?
What things do you consider more important than this future, long term?
Could it be your comfort? The status quo? Just not wanting to change enough to bear through the pain?
Just keep in mind, if something is more important than your Vision…Your Future… you’re choosing this above the future that you want for yourself. And that absolutely is, and should be, your decision.
And if you choose choose something other than change, so you can have your future, maybe you’ve chosen the wrong vision.
In this case, you can do one of two things:
Lower your expectations for your life vision, or
Find the courage and discipline to be consistent in your work toward the vision you chose.
