Random Thoughts on Building your Future...

Sharon J Cole

Do you want to “do more”?

Do you want to be strong and confident in doing that?  If you do, you’ll may need to focus a little more on yourself.

I’m not talking about “self care” here.  I’m talking about helping yourself to grow into the person you want to be, and the life you want to experience—and if you want, then you can help others to build themselves up also.

Helping others isn’t a real hard job if you care about other people and want to help them be better… except you have to build yourself into the person who is able to do that.  You must come first in this, or you’ll use yourself up and have nothing to give.

Do you treat yourself like you care about yourself?

What if…

Your Assignment right now was Taking care of YOU!!

Do you think that would change your life?

Your two greatest assets are your Health and your Time

If you invest in your health, it will give you more time.

*****************

How would it be if you showed up for yourself the way you show up for everyone else?

It’s most important to “be there” for those around us—it’s vital.  But not at the expense of neglecting yourself.

How do you care for YouHere are just a few little clues:

Be still.

Let your body speak to you.  Those nuisance aches and pains, etc. are trying to tell you something.

Let your mind be still.

Build yourself up in every way you can think of.

Nurture yourself.

That’s how you build strength for the next most important task, whatever that is.

****************

Another thing—You need focus in order to go forward.

It would help if you know what direction you want to go, right?

If you’re unsure about yourself and your future, or what direction you want to travel, you won’t be able to go very far.

Decide what you really want—so you’ll know what direction to go.

Then decide what you want long-term, and make some goals to get there.

Does that seem like a slow-go?  Well, it’s no doubt faster than being confused about direction, and virtually not making any progress at all, always second-guessing yourself.  That’s how it is without a vision and goals to reach it.

You can have no plan going forward, being in survival mode, drifting here and there, or you can be thriving, going forward, accomplishing your goals, and anticipating the good things to come.

When you’re in survival mode it’s easy to forget things, and to let important things slip by.  When you’re more focused it’s easier to deal with important things as they come up.

Don’t try saying yes to everything, then feeling guilty if you don’t do it.  Try saying no to MOST things, and feel confident doing that.  Your mind, and your To-Do List will thank you.

You can’t live in other people’s lives and drama.  Help them where you can, but don’t dwell in their issues.

Spend time being still.  Relax in nature.  It will help you be more calm, and more confident in yourself… more able to be present with others.

If you do these things you’ll be more confident, calm, in control and responsible.  You’ll magically have more time.  You’ll naturally grow a bias toward action.  How would that feel?

Instead of being unable to give attention to the most important areas in your life (and the people in your life), you’ll actually make progress on projects, work, and your relationships.

*************

You know, growth doesn’t happen in your “comfort zone”.  Can you work your way out of that zone?

Here’s a path you could take:

1.    In Comfort Zone, you’re relaxed; you’re in control; you’re safe and comfortable.

2.    Nudge yourself to the next level (through the Fear).  Your confidence will start out low.  You won’t feel in control.  Master that.

3.    Gently push yourself further.  This is usually the Learning Zone.  You’re looking for opportunities.  You’re growing your comfort zone.  You’re solving problems, and learning new skills.  You’re Ready to Grow some more.

4.    Now to your next level.  Setting your course; your self-esteem is good, you’re finding your purpose.  You’re reaching out toward your vision.  You’re motivated and accomplishing, and still growing.

5.    You can do this.  Do what you want with your life.

6.    And you’re caring for the people in your life!  How?  Because it’s part of your vision, and your goals.

It starts as a decision, then takes some discipline to move forward, and be consistent.  Then you see results.  And the results will begin to be your very own identity.  You will have grown.

As you reach your goals, then you can expand your vision

*************

Here are some good habits that can carry you through:

1.    Eat good quality food, cooked at home when possible.

2.    Sleep good at night, and take some time for rest during the day.

3.    Get early morning sun if you can.

4.    Exercise every day.

5.    Keep as many toxins away from your body as you can.

6.    Have good relationships with good quality people in your life.

7.    Have faith in God.

So, can you see yourself doing some of these things to take care of you?

Do you have a Vision for your life—how you truly want it to be—with family, your career, your home, and your spiritual life?  All of these?

Can you think of the goals that could actually help you reach your vision?

Then can you take some steps that will reach toward those goals?

Just start with one.  One is a start.

If you can do even some of those things, you will be close to living your life’s vision.

If you feel that’s too big of a step—  If you just can’t quite see yourself getting there, try this instead:

1.    Think of two goals you’d like to achieve in the next 6 months or year.  Maybe in a couple of different areas of your life.

2.    Think of WHY you want those two goals.

3.    Think, what in the past has kept you from going in that direction?

4.    Think, what might you need to change about your thinking or your life, right now to work toward those goals.

5.    Think of a couple of actions that would set you toward at least one of those goals.

Now you’re on your way.

It’s simple.  Start.  You will probably surprise yourself.

It may not be easy, taking those steps, but the path is simple, once you get clear on what you want.

And the steps you take are a lot easier than if you had no vision, no goals, and no plan.

I’m telling you… you can make a decision, and change your life.  In whatever way you decide.

*******************

My life has changed from growing up on a end-of-the-road farm in the mountains of Western Arkansas, away from people in general, attending a 2-room country school house to actually working with people every day for almost my whole life.

I changed from being afraid to be around people, to my normal everyday life being in the midst of people.  From being afraid to speak to people, to professions of secretary in the middle of a bank lobby, Realtor, business owner then health coach—all of them directly involving people.

I didn’t directly choose all those changes, but I did welcome them and build on them.  The decision to be a functional medicine health coach was a definite decision from deep in my heart.

I had made the change from unhealthy to healthy by changing the way I lived and ate, and slept, and the way I reacted to life in general.  It was a process, and in the process, I changed my life.  Our lives are changed, not by changing the big things—but by changing small habits.

Let’s learn to live this life God’s given us to the very best that we can!

And in the process, if you choose to lift up and help build other people, this system will help you get there too.

Thank you for reading these snippets of information about taking care of yourself and building your life.  I hope some of it is helpful for you.

I can help you look at your life with your big picture in mind; I can help you see where you want to go.  I can help you decide your plan to get there.  Message me and tell me about your journey—and about your hurdles.  If you want a new direction, let me help you.

Let’s talk about it.
