Functional Medicine Health Coach
I enjoyed the Mena Regional Health System Health Fair; lots of people came by my table.
The term “Health Coach” isn’t well-known, as people don’t generally know exactly what that term means.
This is my fourth year attending the annual local health fair. Several people would just outright ask, “What do you do, exactly?” which is always totally appreciate. I then have the opportunity to explain to them that our Health Improvements are a journey.
In past years, several people would pass by my table without looking my way. This year I noticed more people were curious, and even interested in my table. People this year picked up my tri-fold to read it, and read some of my material on the table.
I had more people who were open to discussing their personal health this year, there at my table, which was very encouraging to me.
As time marches on, as individuals continue approaching their traditional doctors asking for alternatives to pharmaceuticals or other traditional “protocols” for healing, that the education and training process of physicians will change and improve to include nutrition and lifestyle changes as normal protocols for healing.
I believe the time will come when the old ways of curing disease will not be accepted as normal, and that our main emphasis for most people will be on prevention.
I believe the food we are used to eating will change. Poisons will not be allowed to be added into our foods. Crops will be grown without the poisons, and the crops will not be treated as they are removed from the fields, to keep them “fresh” longer.
And I envision the day when the new norm will be toxin-free food that is easy to find and affordable to buy.
We will also be re-taught about our work-styles so that it will not be “normal” to push ourselves constantly to “get everything done” without sensible rest periods in our work days.
I truly believe we are on our way to that day. Everything each one of us does and says (to doctors, to restaurants, coffee shops, etc.) can encourage that day to come more quickly.

If you have issues with your health, I can’t give you some magic formula to make you well. I can’t diagnose you. I can’t even recommend you do a certain thing. I can’t tell you what to do at all.
But I CAN listen to your health journey, and I CAN tell you numerous ways to help your body (and mind) to be healthier. And I CAN show you different paths that can help you adopt healthier habits. And I CAN show you that the more of those habits you adopt, the healthier you can become.
And YOU can see, then, as you become healthier, those illnesses begin to subside.
Guarantees? No. But when I see people improving from week to week, as they change their habits, I know the power that is there.
So, if you’re having issues with your health, and can’t seem to get the problem pinpointed, come talk with me about your health journey. Tell me the path you’ve been on, and where you want to go with your life.
As always, there are a few things you can do, just on your own.
● Add some exercise every day.
● Add some outdoors to every day.
● Give yourself some rest-space every day, at least once.
● Remove the junk food from your eating. I know this one can be hard.
● Add some healthy food. Cook at home as much as you can.
● Drink LOTS of water.
● Remove as many toxins from your life as possible: household, kitchen, yard and skincare. Some of these are hard, but very important.
Do your genes have anything to do with your health?
Well, yes, probably so. But (over-simplified) if you have a “bad gene” that affects a certain area of your health, and you improve the tips above, you can actually manipulate that “bad gene” so that it’s not activated. And you can improve yourself.
Another thing; love your body that God gave you. Love it just the way it is. Be appreciative of it. Care for it.
And… love the people around you. You might be surprised at the results.
If you want to begin to improve your health, just pick one change to begin with—two at the most. Either pick an easy one or two, or pick the one you think is causing you the most problems. Just take the first step. (And continue…)
Get in touch with me. Talk to me about your health journey. It can be better. Let’s figure it out.
Thank you for reading.
