In the last 20 years, there has been:
Increase in miscarriages & C-sections
Increase in inability to breast feed, and
Increases in almost every major disease
Where does all this come from? Inflammation is a Major Contributor.
Let’s look at some Health Stats.
73% adults = overweight
35% children = overweight
95% population deficient in Vitamins D & E
Do you know the % of adults who meet (USDA) recommended daily intake of vegetables? 9%
Deaths from Chronic disease outpace Infectious diseases for the first time ever. The source of chronic disease is … you guessed it—diet and lifestyle.
Are traditional doctors helping these things? For the most part, no.
But don’t be mad at your doctor…
The CAUSES are Diet & Lifestyle.
and
The CURE will come from Diet & Lifestyle changes.
And Typically, DOCTORS are not EDUCATED or TRAINED in lifestyle and nutrition for healing.
Most people don’t get much Nutrition, and don’t understand why.
Most people get almost no Exercise, and think it’s normal.
Most people don’t get enough sleep and don’t have a clue why.
Most people are Stressed and Overwhelmed, and it’s their everyday life—with no vision of it being any different.
There are Functional Medicine answers to all of these things, but most of the population is not aware of it.

Let’s talk about Symptoms:
Do your symptoms make you feel like your body is letting you down?
What do we do when we have those “normal” symptoms?
When we have a headache: we usually just “take something”
If we have brain fog: we may drink more coffee…
Do you believe those symptoms are “normal”?
Do you believe they are “hereditary”?
That they come “with age”?

… WHAT IF… These Symptoms, that we treat as “Normal”
were something else… happening?
What if… Brain Fog was - inflammation whispering?
What if… Fatigue, or Exhaustion, was - your body saying “I need better fuel”?
WHAT IF YOUR BODY IS “TRYING TO PROTECT YOU”
instead of breaking down, or failing you?
… and that all these SYMPTOMS… were actually messages to you?

If that’s the case… we can respond!

And truly, that is the case. We’re getting messages from our body.
If your glucose is spiking & crashing, your brain feels it first.

Our brain detoxifies while we sleep. It’s not optional. We need our sleep.

I think most of us need something different.
Let your body talk to you.
You are your own best doctor… Your body knows what it needs.
If we listen … our bodies will try to tell us.

What about diets? Do you have any confusion about those?
There is one diet that most American people are on.
The STANDARD AMERICAN DIET… and that’s not a good thing.
Webster defines FOOD as:
A Substance that Sustains and Supports Growth & Health.
What renews our cells… to make healthy organs?
What replaces the cells of our skin?
Our BRAIN CELLS?
It’s The FOOD!
Would you like your body to be made up of cells fed by Doritos and Coca Cola? Or fed by Wild Blueberries, grass-fed steak?
Do you think our food determines whether we catch every “bug” that comes around?
Do you believe getting dementia means we’re getting old?
How about Arthritis?
Diabetes?
Heart Issues?
We want to have ENERGY as we age.
We want to have HEALTH so we can do all the things we want to do!
We want to RENEW all those cells, and have New Ones!

So if our problem = Inflammation
and a lot of the CAUSE is from our Toxic Food System,
What’s the FIX?
(There IS NO QUICK FIX) …
BUT THERE IS A FIX!
GOOD QUALITY FUEL.
Every bite of food we eat sends a set of Codes to our body.
to ALL parts of our body.
Those codes can create Health, or Disease.
They can Nurture our Mind and Body, or Damage it.

Why don’t we eat more Good Quality Food? My thoughts are:
1. Lots of people just don’t know WHAT to eat.
2. And, they don’t realize how Very Important that choice is.
3. And we live Such Busy Lives…
4. Some say it’s too expensive. [However Real Food fills us up faster; we don’t get hungry as quickly after eating (so probably eat less food), and when we cook it at home, we can cook extra to use for another meal.]

If you had a SOLID GOAL
and Set a Path—with small goals
that gave you Wins along he way…
If it would actually CHANGE YOUR LIFE…
Would you consider making changes in your diet & lifestyle?
If you wanted to START, would you know where to start?
I coach, using what I call the Five Pillars of Health. They include:
Nutrition
Sleep
Stress Management
Exercise
and I also add Relationships.
I believe our health depends on ALL of these, but mainly the top four.
So, of these “Pillars”, Where would you Start?
Where it feels most important to you!
But, if in any doubt at all, always start with your Food!!

If we listen … our bodies will try to tell us.
One pitfall to be careful of…
Sometimes if you try to change many things at once, (You could feel overwhelmed, and have more likelihood to fail)
I, personally, had to do it all at once. My body wasn’t “whispering” to me—it was screaming. I actually eliminated everything from my diet that could possibly cause inflammation, all at once.
Within a couple of months, my symptoms (that I had been medicating under doctors’ care for about 5 years) went away.
After my symptoms subsided, I could gradually start adding foods back in to see what foods were actually inflaming my body. I discovered I can eat pretty much everything except gluten and sugar.

So, do you Believe… that YOU could make SMALL CHANGES in your life…
That could reduce those symptoms… OR make them go away?
That could give you MORE ENERGY?
More Calm in your life?

If you decided to make changes in the way you eat…
What are some small changes you could make:
(to change your eating in a very small way)
(The reason for making small changes is so you can accomplish one small goal, and feel the victory, and feel that you CAN do the next change.)

So, what about Buying Food; knowing what to buy… it’s a learning curve.
Prioritize Real Food, not packaged.
Always read labels.
Experiment; try different things.
Buy organic—it’s not perfect, but it DOES make a difference.

There are certain diets prescribed by doctors that can go against what I’m saying.
I’m not implying not to listen to your doctor.
I would find a Functional Medicine Doctor, or just simply
Ask your doctor about these things, and see what their opinion is.

So, NOW would be a good time to decide what your priority is…
Health? Or Junk Food?
It’s Hard! But only at the Beginning!
Then your tastes change! And so does your “want-to”.
You’ll begin to want real food, and you won’t have a desire for the “fake food”.
And in making “THE” CHANGE…
What if you could see this change as a new food adventure,
trying new experiences?
NOT AS RESTRICTING YOURSELF…
Our bodies LOVE (and flourish) with variety.
Then, after our bodies heal, once in a while, eat that sweet treat! And Enjoy it!

WOULD IT BE WORTH THE HARD WORK AT THE BEGINNING?

Think of how you want your life to be.
DECIDE HOW YOU WANT IT TO BE.
Make some goals.
Determine to make yourself healthy.
You will get BETTER—
You’ll have more ENERGY!

One more thought: Enjoy Your Food!
It’s Important.
And: Eat Slow! So you can enjoy every bite!
