What Should I be eating??
Maybe it’s time for a Coaching Class!

I took the summer off. It was my plan, and I was happy to actually decide to do it, and then actually do it.
I enjoyed more time with family—got to camp out, etc., and I got to spend more time at home. I made apple jelly from our apple tree, and just relaxed more. That was great. I got to spend time actually re-examining my priorities, which was also great. I got to read more. Study more. Cook more.
Oh… yeah…cook more. I learned to make sourdough bread. And loved it… and my body seemed to tolerate it… uh oh.
It was a trick… inside my body where I couldn’t see… my body was reacting to the little “only this time”, to random the “just once” times. I just couldn’t see it or feel it.
I barely noticed a little weight being added to my body… to the random itching of my fingers now and again… to the twinges of tiredness I was beginning to feel. Until I finally opened my eyes and paid attention. It’s hard to pay attention when we really would rather not.
As I actually realized my body was giving me all kinds of signals that it needed help, one morning I woke up with a headache… seemed like an odd headache—and I just felt terrible. Couldn’t explain it… just felt terrible. It was that way two or three mornings in a row, then went away. Hmmm… oh well.
I did begin to eat better, but could not seem to resist that sourdough bread! A week or so later, I had a slight headache in the night. I don’t usually have headaches at all, so I noticed it. In the morning, sure enough, I had that odd headache again. And felt terrible again. Just felt awful!
Hmmm. I wonder if it could be my blood pressure… even though my blood pressure is usually great. I took my pressure. 158 over 97. A few days later it was 186 over 97.
OK. How could this be? I know better than to let this happen!
I got out all my information, mostly from Dr. Mark Hyman. I decided to use his 10-day detox guideline, and see what would happen. My husband had used this guideline a few years ago and brought his blood pressure down to normal with it.
I’ve been on the detox for a few days, and I’m feeling great. I have great energy, and I’ve done a lot of projects, and a lot of work, and my sleep is good. I’ve always had a problem making myself “meal-plan”. Well, I’ve been meal planning.
We just don’t have to have all those foods we want. And when we actually QUIT eating them, we truly hardly miss them, if any at all.
Yes, Sometimes it’s uncomfortable. I believe it’s good for us to get used to “uncomfortable”. If we do that with our food, we can actually live a more energetic, more full life! And enjoy it more! And we will actually think better!
I thought I’d really miss my sourdough bread. I do love it. But it hasn’t bothered me at all. When I feel like I’m totally back to my “real” healthy self, I’ll be able to try a piece if I want, or try something else very special.
But I know I just can’t take “time off”, and eat lots of things I know don’t add health to my body. And my mind.

Which brings me to my subject for today:
I’m going to have a group coaching session about What foods your body likes, and What foods harm your body.
It will be September 21, In-Person, from 10 a.m. to noonish. It will include some good-tasting and good quality food. The cost will be $50.
It will be titled, “Eat This—Not That”

There are so many ideas about “what’s good for you”, it’s no wonder everyone is confused.
I have a list of Functional Medicine doctors, and others in the health community that I follow; I read their research and their books, and I go to them for good, solid information.
Most of my information that I’ll be using in this coaching session will be coming from Dr. Mark Hyman, Functional Medicine Doctor. I’ve been following him for years, and totally respect his education, his research, and his focus on health.
Functional Medicine Doctors are typical doctors that have gone further with their education into training of discovering the causes of the symptoms that people have, rather than simply treating symptoms.
We’ll be going a little bit into what different “foods” do to our bodies, and what causes our immune systems to weaken, making us more vulnerable to disease.
And we’ll be going a little into foods that heal, and strengthen us.
We’ll be talking about variety, and how much our immune system loves a variety of foods.
And lots of other details. Plus we’ll be listening to you, to see what questions you might have, or about some experiences you’ve had.
Good food alone isn’t all we need to keep us healthy, but it’s one of the most important things. Our bodies (and our minds) also need exercise, every day we can, and we need good quality sleep. We also need to regulate our stress (really, it can be done). We also need to be very wary of toxins.
But good quality food will help give you strength to tackle the other things, and we truly do need to be educated on which foods are truly best for us.
I’m looking forward to seeing you!
Thank you for reading; I hope to hear from you, and hope to see you on the 21st. You may register for the class at this link: Eat This--Not That
