Two Habits that Can Change Your Life

 

Regardless of what’s going on in our life right now, we have sooo much to be thankful for!

 

Do you have a roof over your head?  Indoor plumbing?  Food to eat?  Safety?  A place to sleep?

 

Most of us have internet access, at least on our phone. 

We have the ability to learn.

We have access to go outside for fresh air, and

We have many extra comforts, if we just think of them.

 

We’re blessed with a mind, so we can think of new things.

And a way to get transportation from one place to another.

So, Let’s Be Thankful.

 

What are you thankful for?

 

You’ve probably heard of Bob Proctor?  He was a promoter of self-help ideas and a motivational speaker and author.  He said one of the pillars of his success was built on a practice he did each morning: write down at least 10 things he was thankful for.

 

He then would pray for God to bless his intent for reaching his goals each day.

 

Can you imagine if we decided to quit the hurry/scurry that we engage in each day, trying to get everything done, and instead took the time to begin our day quietly, taking time to sit still in the quiet.  What would we do in that quiet moment?

 

Have you ever tried meditation?  Or instead, just sitting quiet, eyes closed, paying attention to your breathing. 

1.       Just peaceful, quiet breathing.  Listening to any sounds around you; paying attention to any smells; paying attention to each part of your body from your toes to the top of your head, and how it feels in this moment.

2.       Then, following that up with being thankful for as many things as you can think of, including appreciating divine help with reaching the goals you have for your future vision of life.

3.       (If you don’t have a vision… what would your vision for your life be?)

4.       Think about it. 

a.       What would you like your future to look like? 

b.       How would your health be? 

c.       How would your happiness be? 

d.       What activities would you have? 

e.       How would you feel

f.        Who would you spend your time with, and what would you do—or where would you go? 

g.       How much time would you spend working? (Or playing?)

h.       Who would you help? (and how)

 

Think about these things deeply.

Think of which thing, or things you would really, really want.

 

If you can imagine clearly what you want your life to be, you’ll be able to figure out a direction.

 

5.       Then ask for and be thankful for supernatural help in going in that direction.

 

 

Do you think all this would actually make a difference in our day? …in our production this day? … in our enjoyment of this day?

 

I’m pretty sure it would.  I’m pretty certain, actually.  I’ve tried it.  Before you’re skeptical, try it.  If you’re doubtful, I’m thinking you’re going to be pleasantly surprised.

 

I’m of the belief that in being thankful, we have a Heavenly Father to be thankful to for our blessings.  (If you don’t believe that way, that’s up to you to believe as you want … but you might try believing this way also, and see the difference that makes, too.)

 

I’ve had times in my life (actually, lots of them) when I had very little, financially or materially, but there is never a shortage of things to be thankful for, if we try to think of those things.

 

*Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Now you can grow!

Once we’re thankful, we can use that energy to GROW.  And to keep growing!  Thankfulness creates a foundation so you can grow.

 

Back to your Vision for your Life… Again, do you have one?

 

Do you sometimes feel like life is passing you by?  Like you’re “getting old”?  Don’t do that!  (It’s a trap.)

 

I’ve heard many people say that.  Like they’ve lived the best part of their life already… regardless of their age—old or young.

 

It’s most certainly not true… Well, it doesn’t have to be, anyway.  I talked with someone the other day who is in their 80’s.  They said, Well, what is there for me to be growing toward?  My answer, What do you want more of in your life? 

●       Joy?

●       Friendships?

●       Health?

●       What kind of people to enjoy? 

●       What kind of food? 

●       What kind of activities? 

●       Events? 

●       Or what would you like to do at home? 

●       What would you like to enjoy?

You can grow toward these at any age!

 

Could you see yourself wanting something that you think of, enough to believe you could reach that desire?

 

We always need to continue to grow.  Do you agree with that?  If you want to stay young longer… (and I’m meaning to stay a healthy young, longer)…

 

Think of a vision of how you would like to experience your life.  (It absolutely doesn’t matter what stage of life you are in.).  Growth starts with that Vision.

 

Dream a little.  Or better yet, dream a lot! 

 

Whatever place you’re in, you can:

1.     Think.  Think of a few things you REALLY want.  In different parts of your life.

2.     Next, think of things you can do (tasks) that will move you in that direction. 

3.     Decide what to do First.

4.     Do the first thing! 

a.      Examples: if you want to start walking, or hiking or exercising most days, the first thing could be, check your clothes and shoes, to make sure you have the right things to start.  This is after you have a Vision of what you will do with this “win”.

b.     The second thing, make sure you have a water bottle, etc. with a good lid, and that fits into your attire, or that you can easily carry. 

c.      Make sure your shoes are appropriate.

d.     Set all these out the night before so you won’t have to plan—just go!

5.     Do the second thing!

6.     Go little by little, bit by bit, in that direction you want.

7.     Be around uplifting, encouraging people.  They’re great support! And they make you feel good too!  Your life will be better.

8.     Do healthy things.  You can weave them into your goals, or not, but eat good food, drink lots of water, exercise every day, and don’t forget to REST during the day (in addition to night time).

 

Let’s have fun… And energy.  A life where we Look Forward.  Overcome.  Reach…!

 

Gratitude and Growth make our lives richer!

 

Let’s have a great life.  It’s good for you to enjoy it!
